Samsung Galaxy Alpha Price Slashed in India: Report

Samsung's flagship metal-clad Galaxy Alpha has seen its price going down substantially in less than six months of launch in India. 

It's been little over four months since the Galaxy Alpha hit stores in the subcontinent for around ₹40,000; now the device can be grabbed for just ₹26,996 at Snapdeal.

However, we researched on other online shops and found that they were selling for around ₹32,000 and in the official Samsung eStore page, Galaxy Alpha costs ₹38,900.

We believe this discount offer on Galaxy Alpha is only on Snapdeal [HERE]. Samsung is yet to respond to reports floating on the Internet.

Early this week, market watchdog Canalys had reported that Micromax overtook Samsung as the top smartphone maker in India during the fourth quarter ending December 2014.

However, Samsung was fast to dispute the Canalys report with its own report supported by GFK India. It claimed Samsung was the market leader in terms of sales in 2014 calendar year.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha sports a 4.7-inch super AMOLED HD (1280x720p) screen and flaunts metal frame around the edge giving a premium touch to the smartphone.

Under the hood, it ships with Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS, Octa-core processor -1.8GHz quad-core + 1.3GHz quad-core (depending on the region), 2GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory (not expandable).

Other features include 12.0-megapixel camera (with LED flash, 4K @ 30 fps video recording ability, HDR, Selective Focus and more), 2.1-megapixel snapper on the front and 1860 mAh battery.

And just like the marquee smartphone Galaxy S5, the new phone too boasts of value-added features such as finger-print sensors, heart rate monitor, download booster with MIMO (2 x 2) Wi-Fi, ultra-saving mode, private mode.Only feature missing is the IP67 water-resistant-and-dust-repellant certifications.
