Samsung is yet to reveal the release date of its upcoming smartphone, the Galaxy A8, from the mid-range all metal A-series lineup, but its launch is imminent with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) having certified it.
Chinese telecommunications governing body TENAA had earlier certified a device believed to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8 and now SamMobile (Source) has reported that the FCC has cleared it, giving a clear hint that it could be unveiled soon.
smarIt is pertinent here that SamMobile had earlier claimed, citing a source, that the Galaxy A8 bore the model number SM-A800F. The same model was spotted on Zauba website that keeps track of imports and exports in India.
The phone with model number SM-A800F_MEA_XSG imported from South Korea to Bangalore, India, comes with the tag "FOR TESTING PURPOSE & EVALUATION & NOT FOR RETAIL SALE" and is priced ₹22,889 though official price can be different.
According to TENAA listing (via GSM Arena), the Samsung Galaxy A8 will sport a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 1920×1080 resolution, measure just 158 × 76.77 × 5.94 mm, weigh 142g, will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, come packed with 16GB of internal memory with microSD cards slot up to 128 GB, 2 GB RAM, have 16 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper.
The device also reportedly has fingerprint sensor in its Home button, Android 5.1 Lollipop and a 3,050mAh battery.
