After rolling out the Bixby Voice with Korea language recognition feature, Samsung is preparing to launch the much-awaited feature in English for the US market.
Samsung Bixby is said be to more sophisticated than rivals Google Assistant, Apple Siri, Microsoft Cortana and Amazon Alexa, but when Galaxy S8 hit global stores on April 21, it did not come with full-fledged features.
Bixby came with only Vision, Home, and Reminder, but the most important Bixby Voice feature was left out, as Samsung needed more time to optimise the feature to recognise different accents.
Now, Samsung USA has commenced new beta-testing campaign, dubbed as the 'Bixby Early Access Program', for Galaxy S8 users.
Once enrolled, you will asked to sign a consent form to provide feedback in writing and also via phone calls from the company.
Here's how to enrol for Samsung's Bixby Early Access Program:
Step 1: Create personal Samsung Account by going to Settings >> Accounts >> Add Account >> Create Account [Note: If you already have a Samsung Account, go to step 2 directly]
Step 2: By agreeing to offer feedback (via voice and writing), you can sign up (HERE) by providing your email address.
[Note: Users should own either Galaxy S8 or the S8+ series]
Samsung Bixby Voice feature: Everything you need to know
Once upgraded with the new software, the Galaxy S8 series owners can perform almost every task, even conventional touch gesture commands, on their phone using just the voice.
Currently, the rival digital assistants have mastered a few applications, leading to confusion among users, which command works via touch and voice.
Bixby is created by Samsung in collaboration with the recently acquired start-up Viv Labs, which was founded by the original Apple Siri creators.
It is capable of integrating all the information available online. Instead of depending on some select apps installed in the phone for a particular service, Bixby can also intuitively improve itself by learning users' preferences over time.
As of now, the Bixby Voice feature is available only in Samsung's home market, South Korea. It will soon be released in the US.
