Apart from the fact that Salman Khan will be seen as a prince in the movie "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", the director has another surprise for the viewers, which will pay tribute to the cult classic "Mughal-e-Azam".
As per instruction from director Sooraj Barjatya, a "Sheesh Mahal" (glass palace) has been constructed for the movie in Karjat, Maharashtra, which resembles the structure in "Mughal-e-Azam". The "Sheesh Mahal" will be an integral part of the film.
"I have always been inspired, awed and overwhelmed by 'Mughal-e-Azam', a film that has always fuelled my imagination as a writer and director. Everything about the film is iconic and we have indeed tried to pay homage to the cult classic in our film by constructing the 'Sheesh Mahal'," Sooraj Barjatya said in a press statement.
"It's our tribute to the film that shaped the Indian film industry. How Salman's story and the 'Sheesh Mahal' is connected will be revealed when the film releases on 12 November," Barjatya said.
The filmmaker and the entire unit of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" celebrated the birthday of veteran art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai (who constructed the "Sheesh Mahal" for the Salman starrer) inside the Sheesh Mahal on 5 August.
Interestingly, "Mughal-e-Azam" was also released on the same date 55 years ago and it went on to become an iconic film. The "Sheesh Mahal" was immortalised on celluloid.
"A magnificent Sheesh Mahal of 'Mughal-e-Azam' was witnessed 55 years ago after which, every artist dreamt of making a similar set. I feel honoured to have my birthday being celebrated in a 'Sheesh Mahal' that has been created by me and my team. It's a dream come true.
"I would like to dedicate it to the entire film industry. This dream became possible because of Rajshri Productions and I would like to thank Soorajji, Salman, Maniji and the team of 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' for making it happen," Desai said.
