Salman Khan is not only the king of box office, but the actor also rules the television industry with highest TRPs. After "Bajrangi Bhaijaan," "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has now recorded the highest Television Rating Point (TRP) for Bollywood film ever.
The Salman-starrer "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" had its world television premiere Feb. 14, on Star Gold. The film recorded the highest TRP, breaking previous records created by Salman's film "Bajrangi Bhaijaan."
"Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" garnered 2,51,19,000 impressions Feb. 14, which is 5 percent more than "Bajrangi Bhaijaan." Salman's blockbuster 2015 Eid release "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" recorded 2,37,45,000 viewership, BARC reports.
The TRP rating of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" is 16.4, followed by "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" with 15.5, and Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots" at third with 10.9 TRP ratings. Salman's "Bodyguard" is at fourth spot with 10.3, while Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" at fifth with 9.5 TRP.
Star Gold also became the most watched Hindi movie channel with 57,36,23,000 viewership, followed by Sony Max with 37,92,76,000 and Zee Cinema with 33,03,37,000.
Meanwhile, "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" is the second highest grosser of 2015, after "Bajrangi Bhaijaan." Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film is a family drama starring Salman in double role and Sonam Kapoor in the female lead role.
Released Nov. 12, 2015, the film went on to earn Rs 200 crore from the domestic box office. It became the second film of the year to earn Rs 200 crore, after "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" in India. "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" is also the 10th highest grosser at the overseas box office with an income of $14.6 million.
