Salman Khan-starrer "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (PRDP) is slated for release on 12 November, but the Telugu version of the film is facing a big hurdle, courtesy the censor board.
The Telugu version of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has been titled as "Prem Leela", and the board is reporedly unwilling to approve the title as it has a different meaning than the original title.
"The title of 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' in Telugu has been kept as 'Prem Leela'. The two titles mean completely different things. As per guidelines, the title of a dubbed film must convey the same meaning as the original title. If not, the producers must apply for permission to use a different title for the dubbed version of the film. The producers of 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' have not applied for permission to use a different title in Telugu," DNA quoted a censor board source as saying.
While, Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor-starrer "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has received a "U" certificate after three cuts, the Telugu version is still uncertified, said the report.
"Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has been dubbed in Tamil as well, and titled "Meymarandhen Paaraayo". It is slated for release simultaneously with the original version.
However, the fate of "Prem Leela" seems uncertain, with the issue pertaining to its title.
