Getting cast in a Salman Khan-starrer is nothing less of a dream come true for most budding actresses, but actress Mahie Gill regretted working alongside the actor in Dabangg.
Mahie had made her Bollywood debut with the critically acclaimed Dev D, and was touted for her performance. She then worked in Gulaal, and managed to land a role in a big film like Dabangg as her third project. She played the character of Arbaaz Khan's onscreen love interest in the 2010 action drama.
However, her role was so small in the film that it apparently ended up working against the young actress' budding career. Mahie said that after working in Salman Khan's movie, she used to get offers for only petty roles. Speaking to PTI, Mahie Gill said:
After Dev D, I had won a lot of appreciation and awards. People wanted to sign me for films. But I did Dabangg and it backfired big time. The producers started to offer me small roles. I felt very bad but I did not know what was happening. I believe in destiny a lot. I think this was meant to happen. I did regret doing the role but now I do not.
She further said that she had doubts about accepting her role in Dabangg, but she took it up as Arbaaz Khan told her the character was important in the film.
Mahie will soon be seen playing a pivotal role in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 alongside Sanjay Dutt and Jimmy Sheirgill. The actress is happy and confident about her upcoming film.
"In my case, it backfired. My career stopped at that very point. Thanks to Tigmanshu Dhulia for offering me Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster series," she added.
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 is an action thriller, and is slated to be released on July 27.
