Salman Khan's much-awaited film "Sultan" is all set to release on Eid 2016, and reports say Rajinikanth's "Kabali" may hit the screens the same day. The makers of "Kabali" are planning to release the film on Eid, anticipating that it would help the box office collections, according to Koimoi.
Shah Rukh Khan's "Raees" and Salman's "Sultan" were earlier supposed to clash at the box office, with both movies scheduled to be released around the same time. However, the makers of "Raees" reportedly postponed the film's release to January 2017.
Now, reports say the makers of Rajinikanth's "Kabali" are eyeing the Eid slot and a fight with "Sultan" at the box office. The teaser of "Kabali" was released recently and received overwhelming response from the audience. The "Sultan" teasers have also garnered positive response from Salman's fans.
The films are two of the biggest upcoming releases of this year. Releasing "Sultan" and "Kabali" on the same day will lead to a big box office clash and Rajinikanth is likely to have a much bigger hold in South India.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, "Sultan" will present Salman as a wrestler from Haryana. The movie also features Anushka Sharma as a female wrestler and Salman's on-screen love interest. Its makers have released two teasers, introducing the two leads separately, and both teasers have been praised by the audience.
On the other side, "Kabali" is a Tamil film in which Rajinikanth plays a gangster with a salt-and-pepper look and thick beard. Radhika Apte plays the character of his wife in the movie and Kishore plays the antagonist.
