After Shah Rukh Khan's "Raees" got delayed, there were reports that Rajinikanth's "Kabali" would clash with Salman Khan's "Sultan" this Eid at the box office. But to avoid the clash of two of the biggest superstars, the makers of Rajinikanth's film have decided to change the release date.
Rajinikanth's "Kabali" was initially slated to release in June. The release date was later changed by a month and reports had it that "Kabali" would clash with "Sultan" on July 7 worldwide. But now, the makers have advanced the release date by a week. "Kabali" will now release a week before "Sultan," i.e. on July 1.
"The film was earlier slated to release in June. It has been now pushed to July 1. The makers had also planned to release on July 6 but have advanced the release to avoid a clash with Salman Khan's 'Sultan,'" a source from the film's unit told IANS.
Salman's "Sultan" and Rajinikanth's "Kabali" are the biggest upcoming releases this year and both are expected to fare well at the box office. The same release date would have affected the business of both the films at the box office. But now, both the films will have a good run at the box office.
Meanwhile, another big box office clash has been reportedly avoided, after Akshay Kumar decided to advance the release date of his film. Akshay's "Rustom" and Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro" were slated to release on the same day, i.e. on Aug. 12. But reports suggest that Akshay has advanced the release date of his film by a week to give Hrithik's film a solo release.
"Until recently, makers of both films were not willing to change their initial release date, but now it looks like Rustom will arrive in theatres a week before 'Mohenjo Daro," a source told Mid-Day.
