If latest reports are to be believed, Bollywood actor Salman Khan might star in another south remake.
Buzz is that the actor will be playing the lead role in the remake of Tamil hit film "Veeram" (valour), starring Ajith. The action-packed entertainer, set in the village backdrop, revolves around five brothers. "Veeram" hit screens in January 2014 and performed well at the box office.
Earlier, there were speculations that the film will be remade in Hindi and now there is strong buzz that Salman will be reprising the role played by Ajith in the original Tamil version. Rumours are doing the rounds that the actor's real life brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan might also be part of the project appearing in the role of his brothers.
"Siruthai" Siva, who directed "Veeram", might mark his directorial debut with the Hindi version. Buzz is that he will commence the project after completing his new Tamil film, for which he is going to team up with Ajith once again.
However, an official confirmation regarding "Veeram" remake in Hindi is still awaited.
Remaking south films has become a trend in Bollywood. Several big stars including Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar have starred in south remakes, which have worked well.
Salman has also starred in several remakes of south films in the past. Some of his remakes include "Wanted" ("Pokkiri"), "Ready" ("Ready"), "Bodyguard" ("Bodyguard") and "Jai Ho" ("Stalin"). All of these films have done good business at the box office.
Salman has committed to work in two films, both of which are set to hit screens in 2015. The actor will be seen in "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" directed by Kabir Khan of "Ek Tha Tiger" fame and "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" by Sooraj Barjatya. If the Hindi remake of "Veeram" is on cards, the film might go on floors after the actor completes his current assignments.
Salman is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film "Kick," which is also a remake of a Telugu film with the same name. The action comedy entertainer is all set to hit screens for Eid, which is considered as a lucky period for the actor. The original version of "Kick" was a big hit at the box office and it will be interesting to see if the Salman starrer will be able to repeat the success of the original version.
Directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, "Kick" has Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles.
