Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya teamed up for "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" after nearly two decades. After their film was declared a hit, there were reports of them reuniting for another project.
According to sources, the action-drama film is essentially a Hindi remake of a south film and will not be helmed by Sooraj. "The project will be directed by Sukumar, who is a popular name in the Telugu industry, and it is likely to be a remake of a South film. So, it is no wonder that it will have some hardcore action sequences. Barjatya has decided to be on board just as the producer," Mid-Day quoted an insider as saying.
It's a first that Barjatya's banner will produce an actioner, courtesy the superstar. Apparently, Salman agreed to jump on board on two conditions. First, he wanted the filmmaker to cut down on the family theme for his next and requested that shooting not be stretched.
It is being said that Salman will return as "Prem" but not the quintessential one. "Immediately after wrapping up his next, Salman will roll with this production sometime in October. A three-month shooting schedule is being planned. Both agree it is best for Salman to shed his romantic image. That's the reason he wants to play Prem as an action hero next," an insider informed Mumbai Mirror.
In other news, there's been no update on the project and an official announcement is awaited. Meanwhile, he will begin Kabir Khan's film, "Tubelight," next and then, in all probabilities, take up Rajkumar Santoshi's film.
