If everything works out well, Salman Khan may reunite with "Andaz Apna Apna" (1994) director Rajkumar Santoshi after 22 years. Sources say the superstar loved the script and has even green-lighted the project.
"Salman loved the script and has always been impressed with Rajji's work. He wanted to work with him and the script is perfect. There will be comedy and action in it. Both Santoshi and Kabir's films will release next year. Both the scripts are completely different from each other. Santoshi's film which roll later this year," an insider informed DNA.
The actor and director have apparently been meeting regularly to polish the script at the former's Mumbai residence.
There was a time when Rajkumar wished to direct the sequel to 1990s cult film "Andaz Apna Apna," but failed to find an apt script for it. The first part co-starred Aamir Khan and had Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor in the lead. Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor played iconic characters - Teja/ Ram Gopal Bajaj and Crime Master Gogo, respectively.
Interestingly, after "Phata Poster Nikkla Hero" debacle, Rajkumar approached Anil Kapoor for a film based on the play "Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhiya Woh Jamiya Nahi," which too didn't take off. "Then the filmmaker wrote this love story which he narrated to Salman and the star wanted to start this immediately," the source added.
This isn't the only film on Salman's schedule. The 50-year-old actor will begin Kabir Khan's next after he wraps up "Sultan." Salman has reportedly been working nights to complete the final leg as he won't be able to devote time to the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial post May.
The action-drama, which may clash with Shah Rukh Khan's "Raees" on Eid, has an interesting premise. Salman plays a wrestler based out of Haryana, and has Anushka Sharma as his lady love. Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh feature in key roles.
