Salman Khan has been helping ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif of late with her movie projects, which is why she was the first choice for Rhea Kapoor's chick flick "Veere De Wedding." Salman had reportedly recommended Katrina for the film, but the actress opted out of it.
Salman shares a good equation with Anil Kapoor and his family. He also worked with Anil's daughter Sonam Kapoor in Sooraj Barjatya's film "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo." So when the actor suggested Katrina's name for "Veere Di Wedding," Sonam and Rhea had a talk with the "Fitoor" actress.
"It was Salman who recommended Katrina for the film. He shares an excellent relation with Anil Kapoor, as they've been colleagues for decades. Also, during Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sonam and he became friends. So when Salman suggested that Sonam and Rhea have a talk with Katrina for the film, and they did," DNA quoted a source as saying.
There were even reports that Katrina and the makers of "Veere Di Wedding" were in talks but the deal never got finalised. According to the daily, Katrina was never officially offered the film, as the makers felt she was not getting the Delhi accent right. They wanted to dub her voice, due to which the actress turned down the offer. After Katrina said no, the makers approached Kareena Kapoor Khan and now she will share screenspace with Sonam in the film.
Meanwhile, "Veere Di Wedding" is not the only film for which Salman recommended Katrina. The actress will also share screenspace with her "Ek Tha Tiger" co-star in Rajkumar Santoshi's upcoming film, courtesy Salman.
"He has got Katrina on board for the film with Rajkumar Santoshi as well. It was he who recommended her name there as well," the source added.
