The 65th Republic Day saw sparkling celebrations in Mumbai topped with a colourful parade at the picturesque Marine Drive, thronged with vintage cars carrying Bollywood celebrities.
The parade on Sunday saw the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, his cabinet colleagues, as well as several Bollywood celebrities such as Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Preity Zinta and Sushmita Sen.
Also spotted were Jacqueline Fernandez, Poonam Dhillon, Bhagyashree and Aarti Chhabria.
Preity expressed her delight in being part of the celebrations. "Being a part of Mumbai's 1st Republic day parade was an incredible experience! Felt proud to see the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Mumbai Police out on the streets celebrating with Mumbaikars.... JAI HIND!" she tweeted.
"Happy Republic Day India!!! I'm off to catch the action at the parade!!! Mwaahhh," Jacqueline wrote.
This is the first time the Republic Day parade has been held at the Marine Drive, south Mumbai. According to the police, more than 40,000 of people attended the event and witnessed the colourful parade.
