Salman Khan, who was supposed to star in the remake of Tamil blockbuster "Thani Oruvan", will reportedly not take up the project.
Salman Khan and his team had watched the film some time back and was said to be highly impressed by it. He was keen on remaking the film in Bollywood, but now the actor, who is getting ready for the release of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", has decided not to take up the movie.
While it is not clear why Salman Khan opted out of "Thani Oruvan", the movie is likely to be remade in Hindi with a different hero. More updates on it are expected to be out in the coming weeks.
"Thani Oruvan" is one of the biggest hits of 2015 in Kollywood. It is considered a sleeperhit as people had not pinned high hopes on the success of the flick. Post release, it became the talk of the town and in 10 days alone, it grossed Rs 40 crore. The worldwide collection of the movie has crossed over Rs 105 crore, say reports.
The film stars Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swamy in the lead roles and Nayantara is the female lead in the film written and directed by Jayam Raja. The movie turned out to be the biggest hit of the director's career.
Coming back to its remake, "Thani Oruvan" is all set to be remade in other languages like Telugu and Kannada as well. In Tollywood, Ram Charan Teja is going to star in the flick, which will be produced by DVV Danaiah and Arvind Swamy is likely to reprise the same role in this version.
The Kannada version is likely to star Puneet Rajkumar or Upendra.
