Deepika Padukone recently revealed that it was Salman Khan who had offered the actress her first break in films. She has now pinned her hopes to bag a role opposite the superstar.
Deepika rose to stardom ever since she made a jump from modeling to the big screen with "Om Shanti Om" as her debut film in 2007.
The 27-year-old actress surprised all by revealing that Salman had offered her a debut role, even before Shah Rukh Khan.
"He offered me my first film when I was too young and I was not ready to be in front of the camera. I will always be grateful to him. Just the fact that he offered me a film was a great thing," Deepika told Press Trust of India.
"It is taking a long time for us to come together on screen, so I think there is something special waiting for us."
Earlier reports stated that Salman was also keen on signing Deepika for the upcoming action film "Kick".
But eventually, Jacqueline Fernandez was roped in for the part. The reason for Salman's change of heart was reportedly Deepika's proximity to his rival Shah Rukh Khan.
But after the big patch-up between Salman and Shah Rukh, Deepika's dream to star opposite the "Dabangg" star may not be far from reality.
Meanwhile, the trailer of her upcoming film "Ram Leela" is already making waves in the celebrity world. Amitabh Bachchan had recently praised the actress, on his blog.
"T 1158 -Saw trailer of "RamLeela" .. stunning! The colours the passion the Deepika .. !! 'Ram' and his MAFH..Sanjay Leela and his genius !" wrote the veteran actor.
