"Race" is one of the most successful franchises in Bollywood. After the success of "Race," the second instalment was made on a bigger scale and now the third instalment is expected to be even bigger. Thus, there were reports of Salman Khan replacing Saif Ali Khan in the third instalment.
However, producer Ramesh Taurani rubbished the reports and said that Salman is not replacing Saif. "No. There is no truth to the reports at all," Taurani told Catch News when quizzed about the development.
Last year, Taurani confirmed to the Indian Express that Saif would definitely be a part of the third instalment. "Saif shall definitely be in the film, but the rest of the cast is yet to be decided. We'll be able to finalise the rest of the cast, only once the script is in place," Taurani said.
But reports of Salman replacing Saif keep doing the rounds. This time, a leading daily quoting a source reported that Salman read the script and apparently liked the storyline. Salman is expected to play a negative character in "Race 3," the report stated.
"Salman has recently read the script and is quite keen on taking up Race 3. In fact, he is almost on the verge of signing on the dotted line in the next few days," DNA quoted sources as saying.
However, Salman, during the promotion of "Sultan," revealed that he is not too keen on doing negative roles, as he thinks it will have a negative impact on his fans. This is the reason why he said he would not be doing a negative role in "Dhoom 4," another film from the hit franchise "Dhoom."
"I don't like that genre at all. I don't want to be a villain. I believe in entertaining the audience. I like playing the hero, a good man who's memory people carry back home," he told DNA.
