Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone almost came together for Karan Johar's "Shuddhi", but the latter opted out as she had given her dates to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani".
But going by the off-screen chemistry the two superstars have been displaying of late, it is kind of obvious that they would want to translate it onto the big screen.
According to a Bollywood Life report, Salman, DP and Karan bonded big time on the Filmfare Awards stage. As the "Kick" actor broke into an impromptu jig on "Jumme ki Raat", ace filmmaker followed suit by biting onto the actress' train. The performance was met with applauds and has gone viral on social media ever since.
Interestingly, every movie pair is asked to bond ahead of the commencement of the shoot and this endearing camaraderie only points towards it.
A few months ago, rumours were rife how DP turned down film with the superstar because of prior work commitments, but with Karan confirming "Shuddhi" release date ― Diwali 2016 ― it leaves the movie enthusiasts with more room for speculation.
Also, with Salman and Shah Rukh Khan burying the hatchet and restoring their friendship at the former's sister Arpita Khan's wedding, there remains no scope for camp rivalry.
In one of her interviews ahead of "Happy New Year" release, she told Hindustan Times that the first film offered to her was alongside Salman, but then she wasn't ready to take the plunge.
"We've been offered many films in the past. The first movie that was proposed to me was alongside Salman. At that point, I wasn't ready. I wasn't even an actor then. Unfortunately, every film that we have tried to associate in after that, hasn't worked out for different reasons. Salman and I aren't going anywhere. I am sure there will be more opportunities," she said.
Salman has wrapped the shoot for Kabir Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and will be filming Sooraj Barjatya's "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo". Meanwhile, DP is in Delhi shooting for Imitiaz Ali's "Tamasha" with ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor.
