Salman Khan's movie with Rajkumar Santoshi has been shelved and the director has now joined hands with Wave Cinemas to make a movie on the battle of Saragarhi. However, Ajay Devgn's upcoming movie "Son of Sardaar 2" is also based on the same subject that will reportedly have Salman in a special appearance.
"Son of Sardaar 2," which happens to be a sequel to Ajay's "Son of Sardaar," will be based on the famous battle of Saragarhi in 1897 that was fought between the British Indian Army, comprising Sikh soldiers and the Afghan Orakzai tribesmen in North-West India.
"Son of Sardaar 2" will be a five-hero film, with Ajay playing the main lead and Salman doing a cameo, according to Mumbai Mirror. The "Sultan" actor had made a special appearance in "Son of Sardaar" as well. Ajay had earlier announced the upcoming project on Twitter, saying that it would match the level of Hollywood war film "300" and will be released on Diwali 2017.
Salman was supposed to start working on Rajkumar Santoshi's rom-com after completing Kabir Khan's "Tubelight", but the film has been shelved for some reasons. Now the film-maker has agreed to make a movie on the same battle titled "Saragarhi" along with Wave Cinemas.
"The moment we knew that Santoshi's film with Salman was not happening immediately, we decided to roll with ours. The mahurat shot will be on September 12," Rahul Mittra, CEO, Wave Cinemas told the daily.
Ajay is currently preparing for his Diwali release "Shivaay." The film also features Sayyeshaa Saigal as female lead and is one of the most awaited flicks of this year. On the other side, Salman's "Sultan" has been performing brilliantly at the box office and the actor is all set to start working with Kabir Khan in "Tubelight."
