Two goats -- named Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan -- were sold for Rs 1, 10,000 and Rs 10, 000 respectively, at the goat market (bakar mandis) in Lucknow on the occasion of Bakr Eid or Eid al-Adha.
The goats at these mandis are being sold at prices ranging from Rs 15, 000 to over Rs 1 lakh. After naming the goats after popular celebrities, the sellers increased their prices.
"I named my healthiest 2-year-old goat after Salman Khan and fixed its price at Rs 1, 10, 000. It weighs one quintal and is one of the strongest goat here," The Times of India quoted a goat vendor in Lucknow as saying.
Naming the goats after famous personalities has worked very well for the sellers, who have been making great profits on the occasion of Eid.
Not just Bollywood stars, one goat on sale also goes by the name of Tennis player Sania Mirza.
Apart from these, some "god gifted" goats are also in demand for some special designs on their bodies.
One goat, which had a star and moon design on its body, was sold for Rs 2 lakh. Another goat, which had "Allah" inscribed on its body, was sold at a whooping amount of Rs 5 lakh, according to ABP Live.
