"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" co-stars Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan would have teamed up again, but reports suggest that the former has backed out of the film.
Apparently, Salman was to produce Raj Kumar Gupta's film starring Kareena Kapoor. He agreed to finance the film after script narration, but has now backed out due to budget issues.
Gupta, who helmed Rani Mukherjii starrer "No One killed Jessica", is now said to be searching for another producer, Mumbai Mirror reports.
"The script written by Ritesh Shah (Kahaani, D Day, B.A Pass) is outstanding but the film has to be mounted on a big scale.Salman's team had initially approved of the story but couldn't arrive at a figure agreeable to Gupta when it came to financing," a source close to the development told the tabloid.
Director Gupta confirmed the reports to Mirror and said that since the deal didn't materialise with Salman, they are looking for another production house.
"Yes, at one point we were talk ing to Salman Khan's banner to produce my film with Kareena Kapoor. But the deal didn't come through. At the moment, we are talk ing to other studios and one should come on-board soon," he said.
Meanwhile, Salman and Kareena will be seen together in upcoming film "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which is slated to release this Eid.
