Aamir Khan: The latest and biggest controversy was triggered by Aamir Khan when he made some comments on the "rising intolerance" in India. In an interview, Aamir said that the recent incidents of violence in the country have alarmed him and prompted his wife Kiran Rao to consider leaving India for the safety of their child. This comment gave rise to a huge uproar in the entire nation with a wave of criticism for Aamir. Some BJP leaders even raised questions on his patriotism. However, Aamir soon released a statement in his own defence, asserting that his words were misunderstood but he stands by everything that he had said.
Shah Rukh Khan: Shah Rukh Khan too was vehemently criticised for his comment on the same issue of "intolerance". In an interview, SRK said that news reports suggest there is intolerance in India and extended his support towards the writers' protest. He even said that he would have returned his national award if he had one. Soon, the superstar was tagged as "Pakistani agent" and was compared with terrorist Hafiz Saeed. Nevertheless, Shah Rukh recently claimed that he never said India is intolerant and his words were misconstrued.
Salman Khan: Salman Khan got into a major controversy when he made some tweets in regard to 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon's death sentence. The actor opined that Yakub Memon was innocent and he was punished for the sins of his brother Tiger Memon. While this received a mixed response on the social media, Salman retracted the tweet after his father Salim Khan slammed the comment calling it "meaningless".
Another more recent controversial comment from Salman was in regard to his former girlfriend Katrina Kaif. In his appearance in the show "Comedy Nights With Kapil", Salman saw Katrina's pictures on a packet of crackers and he told host Kapil, "She is of no use to you." Salman further added, "She was of no use to me also." Although, the comment was edited out from the show, Katrina was apparently upset with his remark.
Kangana Ranaut: Known to be one of the most outspoken actresses in tinsel town, Kangana Ranaut raised many eyebrows when she said that "just good friends" in Bollywood means "fuck buddies". In an interview, Kangana was asked what "just good friends" means. The actress did not take much time and said "fuck buddies". She later added that in this industry, "just good friends" means "fuck buddies little promoted".
Kangana also took a jibe at Deepika Padukone saying that the latter never congratulated her for her performance in "Queen". The backdrop of the statement was in regard to Deepika dedicating her award to Kangana for her performance in "Queen".
Anushka Sharma: Anushka Sharma recently talked about gender discrimination in the industry. In the interview, Anushka said that gender biasness does exist in the industry, not only in terms of money but also in terms of privileges. She said that male actors are always given better hotel rooms than the female actors during any outside shoot.
Katrina Kaif: Katrina Kaif is one such actress who is not considered to be blunt with her words but in one of the interviews, she did throw a strong remark. The actress said, "I would never unnecessarily indulge in any kind of attention seeking tactics. It is something that annoys me about some celebrities." Although, Katrina did not mention anyone's name, it was supposed that the actress took a jibe at Deepika Padukone as it came some time after Deepika shared her depression phase and also the cleavage controversy.
Anurag Kashyap and Kamaal R Khan: Film-maker Anurag Kashyap and self-claimed star Kamaal R Khan engaged in a rather dirty verbal fight before the release of "Bombay Velvet". During a media interaction, Anurag said that KRK had challenged him that if "Bombay Velvet" turns out to be a hit, KRK would cut off his own "hathiyar" (metaphored as male private part). The director further ridiculed KRK saying that he would send him an ice-box to preserve his "hathiyar". KRK also confirmed the bet, extending the same challenge to Anurag if the film flopped.
Ram Gopal Varma: Ram Gopal Varma is certainly famous for his controversial statements and his recent target was superstar Rajinikanth. Taking a jibe at Rajnikath for donating Rs 10 lakhs for the victims of recent Chennai flood victims, RGV took to Twitter and said, "Celebs give quintals of prayers and tonnes of love, but very very few rupees because prayers and love are cheap and money costs money (sic)". The next tweet he made read, "I wonder why Rajinikanth didn't do anything to stop the rain? (sic)."
