Vijay Antony's Saithan has been warmly welcomed by the audience. The Tamil movie, which was released on Thursday, December 1, has performed well in Chennai and a few parts of Tamil Nadu.
The trade reports say that Saithan has minted close to Rs 40 lakh in Chennai alone. The movie ran to packed houses in many centres. Apparently, the demonetisation and Nada cyclone, which were expected to have an impact on its business, did not affect the film.
Saithan has been released in over 400 screens in Tamil Nadu and Vijay Antony's flick has collected Rs 3.30 crore on the first day, say reports.
The movie has opened to positive reviews and this is expected to boost the collection of the movie in the next few days. The trade experts expect the movie to earn over Rs 10 crore in the first weekend.
In fact, Saithan is predicted to perform better than Vijay Antony's previous movie Pichaikkaran. On the other hand, its Telugu version Bethaladu has opened to mixed reviews.
The movie has opened to decent response in the US. While the Telugu version enjoyed a good occupancy rate for premiere, the Tamil version failed to attract the viewers in big numbers.
Saithan is a psychological thriller, written and directed by Pradeep Krishnamoorthy. Arundhati Nair plays the female lead in the flick, which revolves around a man's search for a mysterious woman.
