Marathi film "Sairat," which had the biggest opening weekend, is creating history at the box office. The film has minted over Rs. 40 crore since its release, and now is on the verge of becoming one of biggest blockbusters in Marathi cinema.
The film, directed by Nagraj Manjule, started creating records with its opening weekend collection itself. The collection of over Rs. 14 crore in three days is the highest in Marathi cinema, beating the previous records of Nana Patekar's "Natsamrat." And the film continues to create records even after finishing its 10-day run. "Sairat," starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, has grossed Rs. 40 crore until the second weekend, DNA reported.
The impressive storyline and stellar performances of the casts made the film worth a watch. Also, positive reviews, word of mouth and Bollywood celebrities promoting the film has benefitted the movie at the box office.
Earlier, Riteish Deshmukh and wife Genelia D'Souza praised the film on Twitter and now Aamir Khan took to Twitter to appreciate the film. Praising the film, Aamir said that he is heartbroken and also urged his fans to watch the film.
"Just saw Sairat. I'm heartbroken, still recovering from the shock of the end. Congratulations to Nagraj, Ajay-Atul, Rinku Rajguru, Akash Thosar, Tanaji Galgunde, Arbaaz Shaikh, the entire cast and crew & to Zee. Please watch it if you haven't already," Aamir tweeted on Monday night.
Riteish tweeted that he has not seen a better love story than "Sairat" in recent times. He also said that "Sairat" deserves to be the biggest grosser in Marathi industry.
