"He has been wanting to make this subject for a long time. He has lived with this project for years as he discovered it during his days as documentary maker," a source told DNA.
Saif Ali Khan, who shares a good rapport with the director, is likely to play a key role in the web series, which is more about the INA soldiers than about Bose. While Saif is yet to sign the dotted line, if he agrees to do the film, the actor will play a soldier.
"Saif and Kabir share an excellent rapport, and have been wanting to work together. The series is about the soldiers who worked for the INA more than about Bose. Kabir has discussed the idea with Saif and while he has shown interest, he is yet to sign on the dotted line for the project. But if he does, he will play a soldier from Bose's troupe," the source added.
In other news, another web series based on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is in the making. Rajkummar Rao will essay the role of Bose in the show to be directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Saif, on the other hand, has two releases this year. In July, he will be seen in Chef-- the official Hindi remake of the Hollywood hit of the same name. His next is Baazaar where the Nawab of Pataudi will be seen as a sophisticated entrepreneur with shades of grey. Baazaar will hit theatres in December.
