The Star Guild Awards are considered as the pre-cursors for the Oscars; a prediction of what movies, and which artists and technicians would go home with the highest honour bestowed by Hollywood. And if one were to go by the SAG awards 2015, 'Birdman', 'Boyhood', Eddie Redmayne, J.K. Simmons and Patricia Arquette have a lot more to look forward to this year.

Meanwhile in television, the series that consistently made a point and actors that never shied away from giving extra-ordinary performances on screen were honoured. 'Orange is the New Black', 'How to Get Away with Murder' and 'Shameless' are among the winners in the category.

Actress Debbie Reynolds was honoured with the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award. Her daughter Carrie Fisher presented her with the prestigious honour. "She has been more than a mother to me, not much, but definitely more. She's been an unsolicited stylist, interior decorator and marriage councilor. Admittedly I found it difficult to share my mother with her adoring fans, who treated her like she was part of their family," Fisher said about her mother.

After accepting the award, 82-year-old Reynolds took a dig at her daughter, who is remembered for her role as Princess Leia in "Star Wars". She said, 'I warned my daughter Carrie — who just got a part as Princess Leia in 'Star Wars' — I said, 'Be careful of any weird hairdos.' So luckily George [Lucas] gave her two buns. Thank you, George!"
