Celebrities and politicians, including Rishi Kapoor, Shekhar Kapur and Prime Minister Narendra Modi among others, condoled the death of veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey.
Saeed passed away on Sunday at the age of 86. His niece Shaheen Aggarwal shared the news of Saeed's demise on social media.
"Today, a generation of Jaffreys has passed away. Saeed Jaffrey has joined his brothers and sister and is rejoicing in the lap of his Heavenly Father, eternally," Shaheen posted on her Facebook page.
The veteran actor is known worldwide for his roles in several British and Indian movies, including "Gandhi" (1982), "A Passage to India", "The Chess Players", "Masoom" (1982), "Shatranj Ke Khiladi" (1977), "Henna" (1991) "Ram Teri Ganga Maili" (1985), "Chashme-baddoor" (1981), "Kisise Na Kehna", "Judaai" (1997) and "Ajooba" (1991) among many others.
Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and director Madhur Bhandarkar were among the first to pay condolences.
Saeed's comedy drama serial "Common As Muck" co-star Kathy Burke also took to Twitter to pay tribute to the veteran actor.
