Tendulkar's biopic Sachin: A Billion Dreams (SABD) continued to surprise the naysayers with good growth in its collection at the Indian box office on Saturday. Its two-day gross total has reached Rs. 24.44 crore.
Sachin: A Billion Dreams is a documentary film about the cricket career and personal life of Sachin Tendulkar. Many from the B-Town were sceptical about its success at the box office. The movie was released in over 2,400 screens across the domestic market and the huge hype and promotions helped it register a record amount of advance booking, which assured it a big opening at the ticket counters.
The James Erskine-directed biographical film debuted with fantastic response on Friday with its occupancy reaching 100 percent in many cinema halls across the country. Sachin: A Billion Dreams collected Rs. 8.40 crore nett at the domestic box office on the first day and became the second biggest opening Indian sports biopic after MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.
The Sachin Tendulkar-starrer garnered positive response from the audience and the word of mouth took its business upwards on the following day. Sachin: A Billion Dreams showed nearly 10 percent growth on Saturday and collected Rs. 9.20 crore nett at the domestic box office on its second day.
Sachin: A Billion Dreams has collected Rs. 17.60 crore nett at the Indian box office in two days and its domestic gross total stands at Rs 24.44 crore. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#SachinABillionDreams shows an UPWARD TREND... Fri 8.40 cr, Sat 9.20 cr. Total: ₹ 17.60 cr [all languages]... FANTASTIC for a docu-drama."
As per early trends, Sachin: A Billion Dreams has shown further improvement in its business on Sunday and it is expected to mint Rs. 10.50 crore nett at the domestic box office on its third day. Its first weekend collection is expected to be more than Rs. 28 crore nett in the domestic market.
