Just days after Kerala was left in jeopardy after two women entered the Sabarimala temple, now a 36-year-old Dalit activist claims to have entered the shrine. SP Manju says she entered the temple on Tuesday after disguising herself as an elderly woman by dying her hair grey. Manju is the leader of Kerala Dalit Mahila Federation
In a video that went viral, Manju can be seen standing inside the temple premises with the makeover of an elderly woman. The video was posted by a Facebook group named 'Navodhana Keralam Sabarimalayilekku' which means 'Renaissance Kerala towards Sabarimala'.
She entered the temple with the help of Ayyappa Seva Sangham workers at around 7.30 am and offered prayers. She also took part in some of the temple rituals
According to Manju, she travelled from Thrissur by a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus and did not face any resistance from others even after they identified her being a young woman devotee.
The Facebook page had posted that "From Rahul Easwar to Sukumaran Nair who have volunteered for the Sudra riots by creating panic in Kerala. The renaissance Kerala group has entered the 18th step of Sabarimala once again on yesterday (January 8) without stomping on anyone's chest. A 36-year old Keralite Dalit woman has entered the temple declaring that no one can stop Kerala from progressing......"
