Saakshyam box office collection day 3: Sreenivas movie grosses Rs 13 crore in weekend

Bellamkonda Sreenivas starrer Saakshyam (Sakshyam) received an average response at the worldwide box office in its first weekend and the three-day collection was also not up to the expected mark in the global market.

Sreenivas, who made his acting debut with Alludu Seenu, has acted in other movies like Speedunnodu and Jaya Janaki Nayaka. However, all the three movies have failed to give him the much-needed break at the box office. Critics were hoping that young actor would finally prove his mettle with his latest outing Saakshyam that hit screens on July 27.

The budding Telugu actor chose a unique script for Saakshyam and had really worked hard to get into the skin of his character for the movie. Sreenivas had also promoted the film quite well as he left no stone unturned to ensure its success at the box office. Trade analysts had also predicted that Saakshyam would start on a good note and fare well in its collections.

However, the Sriwass-directed film faced a setback after its US premieres and even Friday morning shows in India were cancelled. Saakshyam received a decent response in the later shows and collected Rs 6.2 crore gross at the worldwide box office on its first day.

But, the film failed to beat the opening record of Jaya Janaki Nayaka, which is the biggest opener for Sreenivas, with a collection of Rs 6.4 crore.

Sreenivas and Pooja Hegde starrer received mixed reviews but was quite successful in impressing the audience. Saakshyam managed to remain strong at the ticket counters on Saturday and Sunday. The movie registered very good occupancy in B and C centres, as compared to multiplexes.

Saakshyam has collected over Rs 13 crore gross at the worldwide box office in its first weekend. The movie is estimated to have collected nearly Rs 7.96 crore for its distributors, who shelled out Rs 25 crore on its theatrical rights. The film has recovered 31.84 percent of their investments in three days. It is yet to be seen whether it will return the remaining amount in the coming days.
