Tamil superstar Suriya has postponed the release of Yamudu 3, the Telugu version of S3 (Singham 3). The actor says the delay for the movie a couple of weeks was for Ram Charan's Dhruva.
Yamudu 3 was earlier slated to release in theatres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on December 9. The movie was to clash with Dhruva, which is also scheduled to be released on the same date. Now, Suriya has planned to delay its release by two weeks and release the film as a Christmas treat for his fans. He held a press conference to announce news at Prasad Lab in Hyderabad on Sunday morning.
G Sriniwasa Kumar, the publicist for Yamudu 3, tweeted this morning: "#UniversalCop @Suriya_offl gonna interact with Telugu press in some time today about much waited film #S3Yamudu3FromDec23." Later, he added: "Prasad Lab getting ready for #S3 press meet @Suriya_offl ll meet with #Telugu media #S3Yamudu3FromDec23 The Universal cop."
S3 starring Suriya, Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan, is an action masala film and it is the third installment in the Singam film franchise. The movie is set to hit the screens on December 23. Addressing the media, Suriya thanked producer Allu Aravind for launching him in Telugu. "Ram Charan film is also like our family film. So we adjusted dates to let Dhruva rock at the box office," the actor added.
S3 has been jointly produced by KE Gnanavel Raja and Dhaval Jayantilal Gada under the banners Studio Green, Pen Movies and Aadnah Arts. Suriya congratulated KE Gnanavel Raja and his banner Studio Green for their 10-year journey in film production. He thanked the producer for his support to him and his brother Karthi.
Malkapuram Sivakumar, who earlier produced Shourya and Surya vs Surya, has reportedly bagged the theatrical of Yamudu 3 for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He is said to have shelled out Rs 18 crore on the rights. It is the highest price for a film featuring Suriya, whose previous outing 24 had fetched Rs 16.2 crore from the sale of the rights of its Telugu version.
