In a surprising development, the Kerala theatrical rights of upcoming Tamil movie S3 aka Singam 3 have been sold to a fan group. An association of Suriya's fans from Thrissur will distribute the movie in the state.
Announcing the news, Studio Green, the producer of S3, tweeted, "For the first time in South India a movie distribution rights has been bagged by a fans group..Yes it's one and only SINGAM GROUP THRISSUR. [sic]" The movie has been sold for an undisclosed sum. However, since the move involves an association of fans, the rights have been sold for a reasonable price, say reports.
Suriya enjoys a good fan following in Kerala and his previous film 24 had minted over Rs 10 crore in the state. The first two instalments of Singam franchise were also runaway hits here. Hence, there was a good demand for the rights of S3. In the end, the makers signed the deal with the fans' association, which is expected to take the film to every nook and corner of the state.
S3 is written and directed by Hari and produced by KE Gnanavelraja under the banner of Studio Green. Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan are the two heroines in the film, which also stars Raadhika Sarathkumar, Krish, Thakur Anoop Singh, Nassar, Delhi Kumar, Yuvarani, Janaki Sabesh and others. Harris Jayaraj is the music director, Priya is the cinematographer and VJ Vijayan is the editor of the movie.
The third instalment will deal with environmental issues, and highlights how the West has used developing countries, including India, as a dump yard. The movie revolves around how the unethical and illegal dumping has affected the third world countries.
