The pre-movie business of Vijay and Sudeep's forthcoming Tamil movie "Puli" has kickstarted with a bang. The theatrical rights of Karnataka has been acquired by S Narayan.
S Narayan is a popular Kannada director, who has procured the Karnataka rights for a fancy price. Even though the amount paid for the rights has not been revealed, traders say it is a record amount for a Vijay movie.
The filmmaker reportedly considered Sudeep's presence in the film as a huge factor and paid the huge amount for the theatrical rights of "Puli". As Kiccha is a big star in Karnataka, the combination of Vijay and him could be the biggest crowd-pulling factor in the state. Hence, S Narayan did not hesitate in quoting a fancy price for the distribution rights.
It is also being speculated that Sudeep, who is close to S Narayan, helped both the parties in sealing the deal. The Tamil movie is likely to hit the screens in July 2015.
Who is S Narayan?
S Narayan is a famous Kannada filmmaker, who has directed over 25 films in his career. His only Tamil movie is Prashanth starrer "Jai". Apart directing, he also acts, composes music, produces and distributes movies.
Coming back to "Puli", the crew is shooting key portions in Kerala at present. They have already completed 75 days of filming in Tamil Nadu. The latest schedule lasts for 20 days.
Meanwhile, the makers of the film have denied the rumours, which claimed that Vijay will be seen in triple roles. Reacting to rumours, the producer tweeted, "Absolutely false news that Vijay sir doing triple role in #Puli,"
"Puli" is a fantasy-adventure film, starring Vijay, Sudeep, Shruti Haasan, Sridevi and Hansika Motwani in key roles. It is made with a budget of above ₹90 crore by Thameens and PT Selva Kumar. It has Devi Sri Prasad's music, Natarajan Subramaniam's cinematography and Sreekar Prasad's editing.
