The "Rustom" and "Mohenjo Daro" clash could be colossal, given the star power of its lead heroes. But looks like the makers are rethinking their options; sources say the Akshay Kumar-starrer will now arrive in theatres a week ahead of its initial release, which was on Aug. 12.
Talking to Mid-Day, a source informed that for a long time the makers of both films wouldn't budge, but the situation seems to have changed a bit now. "The decision was taken to avoid a situation where the business of both films would have been affected. Both films star big names and are highly anticipated; coming together on the same day would have been unwise," the insider told Mid-Day.
What's interesting to note is, Akshay and Hrithik had apparently met up regarding the dates a month ago, but nothing was decided upon then. "Hrithik approached Akshay just before he was supposed to fly to London for a shoot. Akshay heard him out and told him that he will get back to him on that," an insider told the leading daily last month. However, the spokespersons remained quiet on the matter.
With back-to-back hits, Akshay is in a position where he can have a strong command over the box office. Whereas Hrithik's "Bang Bang" didn't perform as well as it was expected to, which is why the upcoming clash may prove to be injurious to his career.
In other news, Hrithik has begun shooting for Sanjay Gupta's "Kaabil" alongside Yami Gautam. Akshay is currently busy wrapping up "2.0," in which he plays a mad scientist Dr. Richard, who turns himself into a crow following a lab experiment gone awry.
