Akshay Kumar's "Rustom" has shown a big jump in its collection at the Indian box office on the second day, while Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro" witnessed a marginal growth on Saturday.
Despite releasing in lesser number of screens, "Rustom" opened to a good response and made a bigger collection than its rival "Mohenjo Daro" on its opening day. The film collected Rs. 14.11 crore at the Indian box office on the first day. The movie received positive reviews from the audience. After seeing the craze, the distributors increased the number of shows and screen count in the domestic as well as few international markets on Saturday.
The strong word of mouth took the business of the Tinu Desai-directed court room drama upwards on Saturday and it registered an average of 60 to 70 percent occupany. The Akshay Kumar-directed film witnessed a decent jump in its collection in the domestic markets on its second day.
As per early estimates, "Rustom" has collected approximately over Rs. 16.43 crore nett at the Indian box office on Saturday, taking its two-domestic total collection to Rs 30.54 crore nett. The movie, which has a superb advance booking for Sunday, is likely to fare very well and take its first weekend collection beyond the Rs.-50- crore mark.
Bollywood trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted: #Rustom witnesses 16.44% growth on Sat... Sun should be SUPERB, while Mon [Independence Day holiday] will add to a MASSIVE 4-day total... #Rustom Fri 14.11 cr, Sat 16.43 cr. Total: ₹ 30.54 cr. India biz. SUPERB!
On other hand, "Mohenjo Daro" opened to an average response and collected Rs. 8.87 crore nett at the Indian box office on its opening day. Its business was not even half of the expected mark. The movie garnered mixed talk from the audience and critics and trade analysts predicted that the word of mouth would take a toll on its collection over the weekend.
But the Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde starrer maintained rock-steady at the ticket counters on Saturday. As per early estimates, "Mohenjo Daro" has collected Rs. 9.50 crore nett at the Indian box office on its second day. Its two-day domestic total has reached Rs. 18.37 crore nett. The film is expected to show big growth on Sunday.
