Akshay Kumar's latest release "Rustom" has been recording an excellent box office collection in the domestic and overseas markets. The film completed its 5th day on Aug. 16 and has already crossed gross domestic collection of Rs. 100 crore.
Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, "Rustom" has taken its 5-day Indian box office collection to Rs. 75.90 crore nett and has witnessed superb business at the overseas market as well. While the movie has crossed Rs. 100 crore gross Indian collection, "Rustom" is going strong at the international market as well.
Having earned Rs. 75.90 crore nett in Indian box office by the end of its 5th day, gross total 5-day domestic collection of "Rustom" has reached Rs. 105.42 crore. After earning Rs. 8.30 crore on its first day at the international market, the Akshay-starrer has made an overseas collection of Rs. 20.27 crore in its first 4 days which is a great achievement.
"#Rustom is EXCELLENT Overseas... Collects $ 3.03 million [20.27 cr] in its first 4 days. [sic]," tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Revealing the day-wise domestic collection, he tweeted, "#Rustom Fri 14.11 cr, Sat 16.43 cr, Sun 19.88 cr, Mon 17.81 cr, Tue 7.67 cr. Total: 75.90 cr. India biz. EXCELLENT [sic]."
Although the exact figures of 5th day overseas collection of "Rustom" are not yet out, early estimates suggest that it will be around Rs 4 crore (approx). While the gross Indian collection of "Rustom" has surpassed 100 crore mark, the film's net business is likely to cross the figure soon too. After having a brilliant business over the first weekend, "Rustom" had made record collection on its first Monday; it being a holiday for Independence Day.
The Akshay and Ileana D'Cruz starrer was expected to face tough competition from Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro" that was released on the same day with more screen counts. However, good word of mouth and Akshay's previous film records are apparently working in favour of "Rustom." The film has turned out to be Akshay's third hit in 2016, after "Airlift" and "Housefull 3."
