Akshay Kumar-starrer "Rustom" is expected to witness a tremendous opening at the box office. The film is one of the most awaited flicks of this year and trade experts now predict that "Rustom" will break several opening day box office collection records.
Akshay has a number of blockbusters to his name. The movie "Singh Is Bliing" had the highest opening day as well as opening week collection till date among Akshay's films. The romantic-comedy made a first day business of Rs 20.67 crore at the domestic market, while the opening weekend collection had stood at Rs 54.44 crore.
Now, trade experts reckon that "Rustom" has the potential to out-run all other films of Akshay, as far as box office collection is concerned. "Rustom" is Akshay's third movie this year, after "Airlift" and "Housefull 3." Both the movies had witnessed good opening at the box office.

While "Airlift" made a first day and first weekend business of Rs 12.35 crore and Rs 44.30 crore respectively, "Housefull 3" had earned Rs 15.21 crore and Rs 53.31 crore in the same order. This year's collection trend of Akshay's movies suggests that "Rustom" will have a better opening than the previous two movies.

However, Akshay's "Rustom" is likely to have a tough box office fight with Hrithik Roshan-starrer "Mohenjo Daro." Both the movies are releasing on Aug. 12 and it will certainly be a big clash. Hrithik has a big star power that is likely to attract a considerable portion of the audience.

"Rustom" is based on a real-life incident and "Airlift" too had a plot derived from a real historical event. Moreover, both the films have a patriotic angle associated with them and so was "Baby". Akshay's performance in the two mentioned films was much appreciated. However, Akshay's highest opening grosser till date is "Singh Is Bliing" which was a romantic-comedy. Now, it will be interesting to see if Akshay can beat his previous first day and opening weekend box office record with "Rustom."
