Akshay Kumar's "Rustom" has been making huge money at the domestic as well international box office. Although the film witnessed a drop in collections after a successful first week, it has managed to continue drawing audience to the theatres even after two weeks of run.
While the Tinu Suresh Desai directorial broke many box office records, it failed to beat a few records of Akshay's previous films.
Here's the list of records that "Rustom" failed to break.
Highest opener for Akshay: "Rustom" collected Rs. 14.11 crore on its opening day at the Indian box office, but failed to beat his previous films "Singh is Bling" (Rs. 20.67 crore), "Housefull 3" (Rs. 15.21 crore) and "Brothers" (Rs. 15.20 crore).
Highest opening weekend collection in India: "Rustom" collected Rs. 50.42 crore in its opening weekend at the domestic market, while "Housefull 3" had minted Rs. 53.31 crore.
Highest profitable film of 2016: "Rustom" made 170 per cent profit at the end of its second week, while "Airlift" had made a profit of 176 per cent in the first two weeks of its run.
Meanwhile, Akshay and Ileana's movie has broken several box office records, including the lifetime box office collection of Akshay's "Housefull 2" and "Housefull 3," which made Rs. 106 crore and Rs. 109.14 crore, respectively, at the Indian box office. The world wide box office collection record of "Rustom" (Rs. 182 crore gross) has also shattered the lifetime record of Akshay's "Holiday," which minted Rs. 129.06 crore at the worldwide box office.
"Rustom" has collected Rs. 117.01 crore net at the domestic box office after 14 days of its release. With such impressive numbers, the film is expected to run in theatres for the next two weeks at least. Also, it should continue to enjoy a good run in the theatres considering that there are no big films slated for release until next week (Sept.2), when Sonakshi Sinha's "Akira" will hit screens.
