After the success of "Airlift," "Housefull 3", "Dishoom" and recent release "Rustom", Akshay Kumar is set to feature in his fourth Bollywood film this year. Rumour has it that Akshay will be playing a cameo role in A R Murugadoss directorial "Akira" starring Sonakshi Sinha. It is slated for release on Sept. 2.
Apparently, the makers have kept the "Rustom" star's appearance in the film as a big surprise for his fans, the Times of India reported.
Akshay and Sonakshi are close friends and have worked together in several films including "Holiday," "Rowdy Rathore" and "Boss." Moreover, Akshay had earlier worked with Murugadoss in "Holiday" and hence, it doesn't come as a surprise why the 48-year-old actor has agreed to be a part of "Akira."
This year, the "Rustom" actor had also made a special appearance in John Abraham and Varun Dhawan starrer "Dishoom," where he played a gay character. Though it was a small role with just two scenes, Akshay impressed all with his flawless acting chops and proved his versatility as an actor.
With such an ability to pull the viewers' attention, it would surely be interesting to watch what role he would play in "Akira." Akshay's brand value has also soared high this year, making him one of the most sought after actors. His presence in the film will surely add to the star power of the female-centric film.
Meanwhile, "Rustom" is unstoppable at both the Indian and overseas box office. The film is about is a crime drama inspired by real-life murder case involving naval officer KM Nanavati that took place in Mumbai in 1959. It has collected approximately Rs.123.37 crore net at the domestic box office in just 18 days of its release.
On the other hand, "Akira" is a female-centric film and will see the "Dabangg" actress in a never-seen-before avatar. She will be seen fighting off with criminals and more.
