There's been a lot of noise around Akshay Kumar's upcoming projects, one of which he has partially confirmed. The superstar is interested in "Oh My God 2."
"I'm planning to make a sequel to 'OMG'. The subject has potential," the Times of India quoted the "Rustom" actor as saying. He believes the first part had had a positive impact, and people have now started looking at pointless religious practices (such as bathing idols with oil and milk instead of feeding the poor) with a new perspective.
Apparently, the idea of a sequel has been on the anvil for quite some time, but Akshay and producer Ashvini Yardi didn't want to produce it till they had something solid in hand. Akshay may reunite with Paresh Rawal, but director Umesh Shukla is not in the frame any more.
"They (Akshay and Ashvini) are still in the process of finalising the director, which will be announced in a few weeks' time. Akshay is excited about the core idea of the film. Although the duo was being pressured for a long time [for a sequel], they didn't want to give in until they found a solid idea," an insider told Hindustan Times.
Akshay has wrapped up a schedule of Tinu Desai's "Rustom," and is currently in Chennai where he will be filming a bunch of high-octane action sequences with Rajinikanth for "2.0." He will take up "Namastey England" once he's done with these two projects.
"Holiday 2" is another film he will take up by the end of this year. Director Vipul Shah told DNA he was working on the script, adding that a sequel has been on cards ever since the first one was made.
"Welcome 3" and "Awara Paagal Deewana 2" are two other films that could feature him, but there has been no official announcement yet.
