Akshay Kumar's "Rustom" has collected good money at the Indian box office in seven days. The crime-thriller has been consistent through the first week and witnessed a jump on Thursday courtesy the Rakhi holiday.
As per early estimates, "Rustom" has collected Rs 8.62 crore nett at the domestic box office on its seventh day, taking the film's opening week collection to an impressive Rs. 90.90 crore nett. While this calls for merriment, Akshay has a few other reasons to celebrate.
Taran Adarsh: #Rustom Fri 14.11 cr, Sat 16.43 cr, Sun 19.88 cr, Mon 17.81 cr, Tue 7.67 cr, Wed 6.38 cr, Thu 8.62 cr. Total: ₹ 90.90 cr. India biz.
"Rustom" first week box office collection is Akshay's highest opening week number ever. The actor has successfully beaten the records that he set with his previous films, making "Rustom" his career's best. It has also recorded second highest opening week of 2016 after Salman Khan's "Sultan."

"Sultan" had collected Rs. 229.16 crore nett by the end of its first week. Although "Rustom" opening week collection trails by a huge margin, it did achieve a great feat.
Meanwhile, there are other records that the Akshay-starrer is putting up on the board. "Rustom" has beaten the lifetime collections of Shah Rukh Khan's "Fan" (Rs. 85 crore nett) in a matter of seven days and is inching closer to numbers posted by other films. For instance, "Housefull 3," which collected Rs. 109 crore in its 10-week run, is one of the films "Rustom" may beat by the end of its second weekend.
"Rustom" opened big on Aug. 12, raking in Rs. 14.11 crore nett; it continued its good run at the domestic box office on the following days, crushing Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro." The Independence Day holiday, which fell on a Monday, helped the Akshay-starrer score further, taking its 4-day total to Rs. 68.23 crore nett. However, on Tuesday the film dropped, but made steady earnings from the days after.
How will "Rustom" perform in its second weekend?
There are a few factors "Rustom" is leaning on for its second weekend. Glowing reviews and strong word-of-mouth has helped the Akshay-starrer stay strong and consistent at the Indian box office throughout the first week.
The crime-thriller is set to sail smoothly at the domestic box office in its second weekend as well with "Mohenjo Daro" shows being apparently replaced with the ones of "Rustom." However, "Rustom" may face some competition from "Happy Bhaag Jayegi," which releases on Friday in a decent number of screens across the domestic circuits.
Starring Abhay Deol, Jimmy Shergill and Diana Penty in the lead, "Happy Bhaag Jayegi" gives off a positive vibe, which could draw audience to the theatres.
