When the Bethesda released Fallout 4, it shattered several records for the company and even led to a dip in traffic for websites like PornHub. The game is no doubt popular and involves players completely.
But that has not deterred a Russian gamer from filing a lawsuit against Bethesda after the 28-year old played the game for three weeks and ended up losing both his job and his wife.
The Russian gamer wants Bethesda to compensate him 500,000 roubles ($7,000) for not warning that the game could "become so addictive", reported RT. He has sued the company for emotional distress.
After seeing an advertisement of the game, the gamer wanted to play it for couple of evenings, but due to its addiction, played it for the next three weeks. The gamer started skipping work and stopped meeting friends, and in between, his wife also left him.
He also started to lose his health after he started to skip food and sleep. He said in a statement if he had known this game would be so addictive, he would have bought the game later and played it when he left for "holiday or until the New Year holidays".
This is the first such case in Russia and is being considered a test case. There is no precedent in the country of someone suing a company for similar reasons.
Previously, in the US, one such gamer was compensated for getting hooked to Lineage 2, after the court asked NCsoft to pay his legal fee.
