Russian-American trio blasts on to International Space Station in Soyuz rocket
A MS-02 model of the Russian Soyuz spacecraft blasted off at 2.05pm local time (8.05am BST) from Kazakhstans Baikonur Cosmodrome. An American astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts are aboard the rocket and will be spending four months aboard the space station. The capsule is expected to reach the station on 21 October before an unmanned Antares rocket owned by Orbital ATK Inc with a Cygnus cargo ship carrying supplies docks with the International Space Station on Sunday 23 October.
