Season 8 episode 7 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" was a political one, with the remaining six queens campaigning to be the first drag president of the United States. The queens were all paired up into three groups and the unlikeliest pair won the main challenge.
Major spoilers for Season 8 episode 7 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" titled "Shady Politics" ahead
For the mini challenge the queens had to guess which members of the Pit Crew preferred to be on top and which ones preferred the bottom when sleeping on bunk beds. Turns out only one man preferred to top, and Derrick Barry, whose guess was the closest, won the mini challenge.
For the main challenge, she was paired up with her current nemesis Bob The Drag queen, leading everyone to believe they would crash and burn. Bob has the habit of being brutally honest and Derrick has a habit of taking offence too soon. Surprisingly they gelled well, mostly because Derrick was a good sport and decided to play along with Bob's ideas.
Even Bob was surprised with Derrick's commitment, but in the end, it is what allowed them to win the challenge. Although Derrick's runway seemed to underwhelm the judges, they appreciated Derrick's efforts in the challenge. "Shady Politics" not only allowed the two of them to finally have some respect for each other, but also won them the main challenge.

Unfortunately, though, that was not the case with Chi Chi DeVayne and Thorgy Thor, who made up the next pair. Fans will remember how Thorgy had said in the previous episode that people like Chi Chi made her angry. She was referring to the fact that she worked till something she did was perfect, whereas Chi Chi was okay with her lacklustre projects.
Throughout the episode Thorgy predicted Chi Chi would be the next to go home and did not do much in terms of incorporating Chi Chi in her campaign. As the judges aptly put, Thorgy's campaign was all about herself and in the end, her inability to edit things down worked against her yet again.
Chi Chi, meanwhile, shut down, as she does in the face of an adversity, and went about her pitches for the campaign. Although she took Michele Vasage and Carson Kressley advice during rehearsals into account, the lack of partnership between her and Thorgy was evident in their campaigns.
On the other end of the spectrum were Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls, best friends who failed to be shady with each other. Their campaigns were too sweet and Kim Chi's especially came across as a food ad rather than a political one. However, their runway looks were appreciated by the judges, especially Naomi, who has come a long way since the repetitive lingerie looks.
In the end, Thorgy and Chi Chi had to battle for their lives by lip syncing to Jennifer Holliday's "And I am telling you." Chi chi ultimately shined in the battle and Thorgy, one of the most entertaining queens of the season, was asked to sashay away.
