Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, actor Mohanlal, actress Amala Paul and many other celebs took part in the promotional event 'Run Kerala Run' across the state from 10 am to noon on Tuesday, ahead of the 35th National Games.
Over one crore people reportedly participated in the marathon, which is said to be the first of its kind in the country. It was organised as Kerala will be hosting the national event after a gap of 27 years, from 31 January - 14 February.
Tendulkar, the brand ambassador for the National Games, arrived at Thiruvananthapuram International airport on Monday and was welcomed by Sports minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.
Governor Justice P Sathasivam, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Bishop Thomas K Oommen, Jose K Mani, Pannyan Ravindran, KN Balagopal MP, Olympian T C Yohannan, Mercy Kuttan, M D Valsamma, PK Kunjalikutty, Ramesh Chennithala, M Jayachandran, Thiruvanchoor, Lions club international vice-president Robert E Corlew, world arm-wrestling champion Joby Mathew, grandmaster G N Gopal, poet K N Desam, former international footballer M M Jacob participated in the event.
Other celebs like Mohanlal, Amala Paul, Dileep, Lal, Jean Lal Paul, Tini Tom, Kottayam Nazir, Swetha Menon, Captain Raju, Thesni Khan, Stephen Devassy, Jassie Gift, Baburaj, Ananya, Kavya Madhavan, Suresh Gopi, Saranya Mohan, Krishna Prabha, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Devan, Lalu Alex, Janardhanan, Ajmal Ameer, Harisree Ashokan, Baburaj, Nadirsha, Anisiba Hassan, Saju Kodiayan, Joju George and Raja Sahib also attended the marathon in different parts of the state.
While P Sathasivam flagged off the event in the capital city, Kerala State Athletics Association goodwill ambassador Mohanlal flagged off the marathon in Ernakulam.
