"Rudhramadevi" and "Jazbaa" are both heroine-oriented films and have been creating ripples in the media ever since they were announced. Made on whopping budgets, both the films are considered to have good potential with their own respective reasons. Trade experts across the country were keeping their fingers crossed to know which of the two will become the big money spinner.
"Rudhramadevi" and "Jazbaa" were released in almost equal number of cinema halls across the country. Both the movies had very good advance bookings for the opening weekend. They opened to register good amount of occupancy on Friday and received positive reviews from critics and audience.
But as predicted by some analysts, "Rudhramadevi" turned out to be the biggest opener of the two. The Gunasekhar-directed historical movie grossed Rs 11.70 crore from 100 cinema halls at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office on the first day and its nett share stood at Rs 9.17 crore.
"Rudhramadevi" witnessed around 50% dip in its business on Saturday. Firstly, unlike its opening day, the movie did not have extra shows on its second day. Secondly a mixed word of mouth took a toll on its collection. The film has collected approximately Rs 6.35 crore gross at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office on the second day and its nett share stands at Rs 4.93 crore.
"Rudhramadevi" grossed Rs 18.05 crore at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office in two days. Its nett share stands at Rs 14.10 crore, according to the estimates of Andhra Box Office. The film is estimated to have grossed more than Rs 10 crore in Karnataka, Kerala, Maharastra and other parts of North India. Its two-day Indian nett total stands approximately at Rs 20+ crore.
Released in 1,800 screens across the domestic market, Aishwarya Rai's "Jazbaa" has collected Rs 9.72 crore at the Indian box office in two days. Its business seems to be not even 50% of "Rudhramadevi". Yet, the Bollywood trade analysts describe its business as good.
Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Jazbaa biz witnesses SOLID growth on Sat. Good word of mouth has translated into strong biz. Fri 4.23 cr, Sat 5.49 cr. Total: ₹ 9.72 cr."
