Anushka Shetty's "Rudhramadevi" (Rudramadevi) concluded the first weekend with decent collection at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office, beating the records of "Temper" and "Gopala Gopala" (GG).
Having been delayed for a long time, "Rudhramadevi" was released in 1,000 cinema halls across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on 9 October. The hype and promotions helped the movie register good amount of advance booking. In addition, the government of Telangana made the film tax free in the state.
"Rudhramadevi" opened to a superb response with an average occupancy of 90% in theatres. The movie grossed approximately Rs 11.70 crore at the AP/T box office on the first day of its release. Its nett share stood at Rs 9.17 crore. It has become one of the top five biggest Tollywood openers of 2015 as of now.
The Anushka Shetty starrer showed over 50% drop on Saturday, but picked up on Sunday. "Rudhramadevi" has collected Rs 10.60 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Rs 15.50 crore in Telanagana in three days. It has grossed Rs 26.10 crore at the AP/T box office in the first weekend. Its three-day nett share stands at Rs 19.62 crore.
In terms of its budget, "Rudhramadevi" is the next biggest Tollywood movie after "Baahubali: the Beginning". It was expected to smash the records of "Srimanthudu" and "S/o Satyamurthy" and become the second highest grosser in 2015. But the film has failed to do so. It has become the fourth highest grosser in the opening weekend, beating the records of "Gopala Gopala", "Temper" and "Kick 2".
