Director Gunasekhar and Anushka Shetty's "Rudhramadevi" (also spelled as Rudramadevi/ Rudrama Devi) has received an earth-shattering response at the worldwide box office on the first day.
"Rudhramadevi" is one of the most hyped and highly-awaited Telugu movies of 2015. The movie, which went on floors in 2013, has been in production for more than two years. The movie has huge amount of VFX works that has delayed its release. The historical movie has been making headlines for several positive reasons since it was announced.
Made with a budget of Rs 80 crore, the movie boasts of brilliant technical works and the performance by ensemble cast that includes Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, Vikramjeet Virk, Prakash Raj, Krishnam Raju, Nithya Menen, Baba Sehgal and Catherine Tresa. Its promos have generated positive buzz around the film. In addition, the makers have publicised the flick on a large scale.
The huge hype and promotions made "Rudhramadevi" register great amount of advance bookings. Book My Show, one of the leading online movie tickets booking website, shows that the movie has registered an average of 90% booking for its opening day. Some cinema halls have already sold out all tickets for Friday. The film has been released in around 2,500 screens across the globe.
The Anuskha Shetty starrer was premiered in some international markets, where it has got positive response from the viewers. The first show of "Rudhramadevi" was held at Sri Ramulu 70 MM, Moosapet in Hyderabad at 1.30 am. The movie ran to packed house there and successfully impressed the audience.
"Rudhramadevi" has recorded superb occupancy in the early morning and matinee shows. Good word-of-mouth is expected to take its collection upwards in the afternoon and evening shows. As per early trends, the movie is likely to gross Rs 20+ crore at the worldwide box office on the first day.
In its scale of production, promotion and release, "Rudhramadevi" stands the third biggest south Indian movie of 2015 after "Baahubali", "Puli" and "I".
The early trend shows that "Rudhramadevi" may beat the records of "Srimanthudu" and "Puli", which have grossed Rs 19 crore and Rs 19.55 crore at the worldwide box office on their opening day. It is likely to become the third biggest opener South Indian film of 2015 after "Baahuabali" and Shankar's "I", which have raked in Rs 73 crore and Rs 34.74 crore respectively.
