Royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton's first day of the week-long India tour came to a close with a star-studded charity dinner held at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai. It was attended by the big wigs of the Hindi film industry.
Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Parineeti Chopra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra are some of the names who were present at the do.
At the dinner, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were treated to a Bollywood dance number performed by Shiamak Davar's troupe and songs by Shankar Mahadevan and his son Sidharth Mahadevan.
The night was rounded off by a speech by the Prince. "When Catherine and I were married, India was the first place on Catherine's list that she told me that she wanted to visit. Two children and five years later, we have finally made it – and we are both honoured to be here." Mirror quoted him as saying.
The charity gala was thrown by The British High Commission in partnership with the British Asian Trust and the hotel, to raise funds for Magic Bus, Childline 1098 and the Door Step.
Earlier in the day, the royalty paid their respects to the victims of the 2008 terror attack, took an open-top bus tour, posed for the shutterbugs with Sachin Tendulkar and Dilip Vengsakrar at the Oval Maidan and visited the Banganga community.
