As expected, "Roy" second day box office collection showed growth at the domestic market.
The romantic thriller starring Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez earned ₹11.17 crore on Saturday. Due to Valentine's Day, the business of "Roy" at domestic box office went up by approximately 10%.
On opening day, "Roy" managed to earn ₹10.40 crore from approximately 2,500 screens in India. The two day total of the film now stands at ₹21.56 crore.
"#Roy Fri 10.40 cr, Sat 11.16 cr. Total: ₹ 21.56 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Roy", which has emerged as the biggest opener of 2015, shattered the first day records of Akshay Kumar's "Baby". But the second day collection of the both the films are in the same range.
However, it remains to be whether "Roy" will beat the opening weekend figure of "Baby". "Roy" Sunday box office income is not expected to be great due to the India vs Pakistan ICC World Cup Match, whereas "Baby" had enjoyed a free run.
"Baby" earned ₹9.3 crore on day one, ₹11.17 crore on day two and ₹15.60 crore on third day from domestic collection centres.
Meanwhile, trade experts are expecting that "Roy" will fare well and end the dry spell at the box office.
"Talking about Roy, the movie will draw major audience in the opening weekend because of the good music and in addition is the interesting star cast of the film. The movie will do really well at the box office," exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi told Koimoi.com.
"Roy is looking very good and personally I think it will break the bad phase of poor openings the industry is going through," Ashok Ahuja of IPR management told the trade website.
